Marion County: 18 Children Finalize Adoptions on
On Friday, the Marion County Judicial Center's Courtroom 1 was filled to the brim as "Home for the Holidays" took place. This heartwarming event saw the finalization of adoptions for 18 children, bringing families together during the festive season.

Local and state politicians, judges, attorneys, and dignitaries from Kids Central Inc. joined well-wishers in welcoming the families. Circuit Judge Stacy Youmans, who presided over the ceremony, was delighted to see the smiling faces and recognized the significance of "Home for the Holidays" for the community. The parents, children, and the audience took oaths during the adoption vows and promises.Families adopting the children received signed adoption certificates and ornaments with their family names from special guests from the North Pole - Santa and Mrs. Claus. Individually, both Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus took pictures with each child, creating precious memories.

Gifts and Donations

Gifts provided to those adopted were generously donated by Shana Wilson, who has adopted two children through Kids Central Inc., and the 5th Judicial Circuit Public Defender's Office. Judge Youmans supplied the ornaments, and supervisors at Kids Central Inc. baked delicious cookies. An employee at the facility provided music and entertainment for the guests, adding to the festive atmosphere.

According to officials at Kids Central Inc., "Home for the Holidays" began with now retired Circuit Judge Sue Robbins. This program has been running for over a decade, with the goal of finalizing adoptions before the holidays. Once adopted, these children can now spend the holidays with their new families. The event has served hundreds of families over the years, with an average of 13 or more families adopting each year.In the United States, more than 100,000 children in foster care await adoption, and nearly 30,000 children reach 18 without being adopted. "Home for the Holidays" plays a crucial role in providing these children with a chance at a forever home. It is a day filled with hope and joy, as 18 families come together to create new memories.
