Homeowner Recounts Harrowing Crash, Calls for Action

A Sudden and Violent Impact

Penny Lynch vividly recounts the terrifying moment when a car slammed into her home early one Sunday morning. "The whole house shook," she said, describing the intensity of the impact. "Things fell off the walls inside. It was weird, it was a very hard hit. I could tell that." The force of the collision was so great that it left Lynch shaken and concerned for her safety.

Fleeing Suspects

As Lynch emerged from her home, she witnessed the aftermath of the crash. "I saw the passenger and driver get out of the car and run," she said. The driver, who had sustained injuries from the impact, initially remained at the scene but eventually fled as well. "She had blood all down her face; she hit the windshield with her forehead," Lynch recounted, highlighting the severity of the incident.

A Recurring Problem

This was not the first time a car had crashed into Lynch's home or those of her neighbors. "They come around the curve; it's a 25-mile-per-hour turn on a 35-mile-an-hour street," she explained. "But when they're coming too fast, they can't make that curve, and they hit the tall curb on the other side, so they kind of ricochet off, and I'm in the line of fire."

Seeking Solutions

Despite the ongoing challenges, Lynch remains optimistic and hopes to find a solution to the problem. "Things happen, you have to deal with it, and you know, sometimes you have to put your head down and go," she said. However, the frequency of these incidents has taken a toll, and Lynch is determined to work with local authorities to address the issue and prevent future crashes.

A Call for Change

Lynch's experience highlights the need for increased safety measures and traffic calming solutions in her neighborhood. By sharing her story, she hopes to raise awareness and inspire action from local officials to address the reckless driving that has plagued her community. With a resilient spirit and a desire for change, Lynch is determined to find a way to protect her home and her neighbors from the ongoing threat of careless drivers.
